Using smartphones wisely

With the rising of the smartphone, people are spending from at least 2 hours per day on those devices. As a result, they have less time for health, self-improvement, and relationship. The disadvantage of having a smartphone may overweight the advantage. In this essay, I will prove my idea, as below.

First, having less time for self means less time for health. Studies have shown the importance of having at least 45–60 minutes per day for exercise activities such as jogging, running, or aerobic. Those activities will prevent some problems related to the heart or lungs. They also help to reduce stress.

Secondly, the self-improvement process may be affected by the consequence of using phone habits. Spending 1–2 hours per day checking the news on Facebook or other social networks won’t help you become smarter at work or school. Besides, if you want to achieve a target, such as planning to get a higher IELTS score, you should use your time to read grammar books, do homework, and practice other skills; rather than staying on social media.

Third, smartphone harms relationships. New updated technologies allow you to check the notifications on your phone instantly, such as a new comment on your Facebook post or a new about your favorite music band. Those distractions cause a serious fact that: people may concentrate on their phone when eating, or talking with their family. Although the distractions are identified, some people do not know their bad behavior.

In conclusion, I do love the ways smartphones connect the world and the advantages of the connection, but it will be better if people use smartphones more wisely.
